Due to the primary test mode of the fault indicator or field control unit, a minimum primary current of 3 A is sufficient for testing. If this is not available because the medium voltage has not yet been connected, a test current of 5 A can be generated with the IKI primary test and passed through the current transformers with the thin test cable. The IKI units detect the current and signal it accordingly, depending on the unit version (LCD, LED, relay). This checks the complete measuring circuit of the fault indicator.

Checking the load flow direction

For directional fault indicators, the load flow direction can also be checked with the voltage output.
